A civil action : The true story of two huge United States corporations who are sued for dumping toxic waste and polluting the town's water supply by the families of the 12 children who died of leukemia. Jan Schlichtmann (Travolta) is the leader of the legal team of a small firm of personal injury attorneys. Jan hopes to win millions by representing the parents, but ends up losing nearly everything, including his sanity. This film is a compelling representation of the U.S. legal system, where greed and power fight against justice. Unlike the usual courtroom drama, not much of the action takes place inside the courtroom walls.
